The show aired every weekday at 7 pm, starring Sania Shamshad, Farhan Ahmed Malhi, Zainab Shabbir, and Hammad Farooqi, with the screenplay written by Samrah Bukhari and produced by 7th Sky Entertainment. While the TV adaptation added its own layer of storytelling, the emotional core and central themes trace directly back to Bano Qudsia’s original novel.

The Story at Its Core

At its heart, this is a social and romantic novel that spends less time on plot twists and more on the honest realities of life and the role love plays in shaping it. This is a theme Bano Qudsia returned to often across her body of work, alongside novels like Aik Din, Amar Bail, and Raja Gidh, but Piya Naam Ka Diya is often singled out for how emotionally direct and accessible it is compared to some of her denser, more philosophical writing.

Who Should Read This Book

This novel is a strong fit for readers who enjoy romantic, socially grounded fiction, especially those who watched the Geo TV adaptation and want to experience the original story it was based on.
